Book Review: IM NOT GOOD

So, I received this fairly small book called IM NOT GOOD by Brionna Nijah. I must admit, when I first received it I wasn't sure if it’ll be good. The cover is very catchy. It is designed with a bright blue cover and graphics that portray how our mouth and brain don't always line up. I’M NOT GOOD has a 4.7 rating on Amazon.

In regards to the writing. She is very precise. She doesn't spend much time elaborating (this is probably why it isn't a thick book). The main message she discusses is how we are preprogrammed to believe that we are ‘good’ even when we are not. Once someone asks us how we are doing we automatically react and say — IM GOOD or some form of it. I can relate to this because I do it all the time without even thinking about it. Shoot — I did it today.

One thing I can say about this book is that it was full of unexpected self-checks. The more I read this book — the more I had to reevaluate my choices, languages, and mindset.
In summary, I loved this book. I will rather call it a manual. I do believe she could elaborate deeper into this and that this book was just a starting point. This book has a few reviews on Amazon — you should check out.
